The history of SCHAFFRATH begins on January 15, 1923, borne of the family tradition of brothers Adam and Alois Schaffrath. They laid the foundations for the SCHAFFRATH Diamond Manufaktur and put six diamond cutters to work. The company quickly established its name with diamonds of remarkable cut quality and precise gradation.

On January 15, 1923, brothers Adam and Alois Schaffrath together with six diamond cutters founded the Diamond Manufaktur Gebrüder Schaffrath.

In 1925, the company was registered in the commercial register of the city of Hanau, known worldwide as a traditional jewelry city and one of the four most important jewelry centers in Germany.

With a focus on quality, early on Gebrüder Schaffrath set the standard that today stands as the hallmark of the diamond industry: graduated security.

In 1928, Gebrüder Schaffrath expanded its expertise by also taking over rondist cutting, which gives the diamond its basic shape. The company grew steadily and moved to its own manufaktur.

Adam Schaffrath made the first contacts with the diamond exchanges in Antwerp and Amsterdam in 1928.

In 1931, in addition to diamond cutting, rough diamond splitting was added to the company's production process.

With a workforce of about 60 employees, the company grew in 1936 and expanded to include a modern sawmill. During all these years, SCHAFFRATH continued to build its reputation as a leading name in the world of diamonds.
