Prospex - SPB249J1
With a design dating back to the Laurel Alpinist of 1959, the new Seiko Prospex 1959 Alpinist series made quite an impression at its introduction earlier this year. First there was the purist re-edition, ref. SJE085J1, accompanied by three more modern reinterpretations; SPB241J1, SPB243J1 and SPB245J1. This trio of watches had a friendly format and a balanced mix of vintage elements and modern touches. Now Seiko is expanding the collection with two new models, the Seiko Prospex 1959 Alpinist Modern Re-Interpretation "Deep Lake" SPB249J1 and "Forest Brown" SPB251J1.
Seiko Collection
The Seiko collection offers a wide collection of luxury men's and women's watches. An attractive combination of fine design and innovative watchmaking technology. Seiko is one of the few watch manufacturers in the world able to manufacture all watch technologies in-house. The name Seiko is derived from the Japanese "Seikosha" which literally means "House of Precision. Since 1881, Seiko has been a leader in innovative watches.
Seiko, founded in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori, has an impressive history dating back to the beginning of the modern era in Japan. The founder started out as a watchmaker in Tokyo and quickly became a pioneer in the watchmaking industry. The company produced its first clock in 1892 and Japan's first wristwatch in 1913, showing Seiko's commitment to innovation early on.
Over the following decades, Seiko grew into a globally respected watch brand with a series of groundbreaking achievements. In 1969, Seiko introduced the world's first quartz watch, the Astron, setting standards for precision and technological advancement. In the years that followed, Seiko launched other remarkable technologies, such as the Spring Drive mechanism, and developed several collections that are both technically advanced and aesthetically appealing. With more than a century of innovation and craftsmanship, Seiko remains an icon in the watchmaking industry, bringing together the past and the present in an impressive legacy of timekeeping.
